So, this morning i had to take my wife to the dentist. This typically means that I park my car in the parking garage, she goes into the dentist for a few hours, and the kids and I ride around and do stuff in her van. So we do all of that then grab some food at my favorite restaurant, since it is two blocks over from the dentist.
I go back to get my car so i can go to work. I go down the ramp to leave and i see that an old aircooled 911sc is behind me. I'm thinking, "well that's cool he's driving it on a bad weather day. props to him." Well, i shouldn't have thought good things about him, as you soon will see. I wait for my turn at the gate, then pull up to the gate and put my ticket in the machine. The ticket was validated, so i shouldn't have had to pay, but that machine acts up sometimes so i did. no biggie.
Next thing i know i hear a loud crack sound and feel a little bump. I pay my parking fee, which i shouldn't have had to pay, and move my car to the other side of the gate. Get out to look at my bumper to make sure it is okay. No damage, so no big deal. The guy looks at me like i'm crazy, and doesn't even acknowledge that he just ran his fancy beetle into my car. I pull out into traffic and sit at the light. I thought, "Oh, maybe he'll wave or say something when he pulls up next to me." Nope, he just drove around the corner and took off.
I wasn't really upset, since there was no damage. It just would have been nice if would have acknowledged that he ran in to my car. Here's a pic of my car for fun. The one good thing about the whole thing is that I got to hear that sweet sound of my car in the parking garage. I just put muffler deletes on this weekend, so it was awesome!

It's not just me, right? I mean, it's not like he wasn't a car enthusiast. He was driving an SC. He probably would have raised hell if the situation was reversed.

ALWAYS get the deets from the other driver if you're hit. Even if you think there is no damage. Especially on modern cars. An undamaged-looking bumper cover could be hiding boken impact absorbers.

I checked it out. There's nothing to it. It didn't even scuff the paint. I think what happened was that he was trying to reach over to get something and his foot came off the brake a bit and he rolled down the ramp into me. It wasn't like he was on the throttle at all.

I would have got out and got his info either way. Our car just got rear ended like a week ago. The lady looked up and saw the light go green, started going, then looked down at her radio. Unfortunately, traffic stopped for a pedestrian and she didn't and hit us at about 5-8 MPH. The bumper looked almost perfect except for a slight scrape in the shape of the ladies license plate frame... so I thought. We got her info and she said if the damage was minor to just tell her and she would pay cash rather than deal with insurance.
Later using a flash light I could see the bumper had a slight deformation, so I slid down under the car. The metal backing and foam in the bumper was cracked/dented. The mounting brackets were kinked as well. I took it to a body shop, he looked at it, pulled the parts list up and wrote out a quote of $1050. I called her insurance and they only disagreed with $50 of the estimate... a little time he had added for matching paint color, but they said if he had trouble matching it they would pay for it after the fact.
Now I'm out a car for several days, driving a god awful Dodge Avenger (her insurance paid for), and having to have $1000 worth of work done on a brand new car. Very glad I got her info and didn't brush it off as a little scuff.

That does suck that such a slow accident caused that much damage. i'm sure i can find him pretty easily if i need to. most of the people who use that garage purchase spots at a monthly rate. Plus, it would have been on video. I'll get a better look under the car tonight. I've already looked at it three times and didn't see even the lightest scuff though.

Hopefully it didn't do any damage. If he rolled into you with the clutch in, it maybe fine. The damn PT cruiser that hit me was trying to accelerate, and I was dead stopped with my brakes on, so there wasn't much budging when we hit.
Bumpers are only rated at 5MPH, so it all depends how, where, and how much energy isn't dissipated in a low speed bump.

Maybe he got lucky and you just saved him from a DUI.

He doesn't deserve that 911SC.

No, he really doesn't.

So he purposely bumps you with the 911? Hell, I would've done everything in my power to take that car away from him. get his number and info, take him to court and revoke his license! Then get the 911 and drive it away!
Eh.... a tad bit extreme don't you think :P

Maybe a tad bit. I think because it was on a ramp he let off the brake, or something similar when he was waiting for me to pay. No damage done luckily, just a dick move not to even acknowledge that it happened.

At least there was no body damage. But I must feel for the 911 though. It probably thought "WTF did my driver just do?"
But if it was an accident, accidents happen.
